Older Persons Network

The Older Persons Network (OPN) has been set up to enable Voluntary and Community Sector (VCS) groups and public sector bodies to work in partnership to help deliver change for older people living on the Isle of Wight.

The network also aims to enable voluntary organisations, working with older people, to develop collective and independent policies, programmes and to inform local and regional strategic bodies via representation and campaigning.

Why should you attend when everyone is very busy and another meeting will take you away from the ‘day job’?

It is more difficult for organisations working alone to influence the developments taking place in older person’s services. The OPN needs to grow its membership to be able to truly become the representative body, linked closely to local communities, of practitioners working with older people.

The Public Sector is looking for ways to engage with organisations and individuals, to consult with them and work in partnership to develop services. The OPN is the mechanism to do this, providing a credible response to consultations on local, regional and national policy and service delivery proposals.

A strong network will also provide a forum to share information and good practice, and develop opportunities for working together in the developing contract culture.
Funding has been made available from Capacity Builders to develop the OPN so we can really make a difference
